Twilight star Kristen Stewart has been tapped to play rock icon Joan Jett in a forthcoming biopic about the 1980s star. The 18-year-old actress will take on the role in new film The Runaways, depicting the all-girl band's rise and fall from the limelight.

Pop star Jessica Simpson is heading back to school - and she wants to study religion. The 28-year-old Texan left high school aged 16 to tour the Christian music circuit before she became a pop singer in the 1990s. Simpson later earned her diploma by taking the General Educational Development (GED), and admits she's been inspired to head back to class - by TV documentaries.
